10 Tips for Using Air Conditioners in a Healthy Way

  1. Clean your air conditioner filters at least once a month. This helps prevent the accumulation of dust, pollen, and germs.
  2. Schedule professional maintenance once a year. This ensures the system functions properly and helps prevent the growth of bacteria and mold.
  3. Set your air conditioner to an ideal temperature between 23–26°C (73–79°F)
Avoid overcooling the room. Make sure the difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures does not exceed 6–8°C (10–14°F).
  4. Avoid direct airflow on the body. Especially while sleeping or working, make sure the air is not blowing directly on the face, neck, or upper body.
  5. Maintain proper humidity levels. Since air conditioning reduces humidity, try to keep the room’s humidity between 40% and 60%.
  6. Avoid frequently turning the air conditioner on and off. Instead, operate it steadily at a low speed for better health and efficiency.
  7. Use sleep or night mode while sleeping. As body temperature naturally drops at night, this setting is more comfortable and healthier.
  8. Ventilate the room regularly. Open a window or use a ventilation system to ensure fresh air circulation in closed environments.
  9. Keep indoor plants in air-conditioned rooms. Plants help improve air quality and reduce dryness.
  10. Be extra careful when using air conditioning around children, the elderly, or individuals with chronic illnesses. Since their immune systems are more sensitive, air conditioning should be used more cautiously and in moderation.
